Bob wrote a letter to Santa

Dear Santa,

It’s Bob again—Toronto’s unofficial street photographer, hot-dog connoisseur, and full-time sidewalk hazard.
And Santa… I have photographic evidence that you actually waved at me this year.
(Please see Exhibit A: the very festive, slightly blurry photo of you in your deluxe red sleigh looking like you just spotted a man who really needs new camera gloves.)

So I figured since you already acknowledged me with a wave, it’s the perfect time to remind you:

I’ve been a REALLY good photographer this year.
Not perfect—but definitely Toronto-level good.

Here is my case:

I bravely photographed that giant dancing car mascot without fleeing or calling 911.

I obeyed every traffic agent, even the one who signaled so dramatically I thought he was starting a Broadway show.

I respected construction workers by not asking them to “do it again, but with more emotion.”

I smiled in a portrait, which is something no photographer should be forced to do without counselling.

I even left one single hot dog undisturbed because a pigeon looked like it really needed a win.

And now that I’ve captured you in action, Santa, I think you owe me a few small Christmas wishes:

Warm fingers for winter photo walks
 Light that doesn’t disappear at 4:13 p.m.
A memory card that refuses to fill up (please upgrade it yourself if needed)
And maybe—just maybe—one Toronto parade where nobody steps in front of my shot at the exact wrong second

Also, if possible, please deliver to all Torontonians a little extra patience for when Bob stops in the middle of the sidewalk to photograph a puddle. It’s art, Santa. ART.

Thank you for the wave, Santa.

Love,
Bob
(Definitely on the Nice List—your sleigh photo proves it.)
